To sail, learn and connect
We have a year away from our regular lives (school, work and the local communities we share) to go on an adventure. During this time we will enjoy the freedom and challenges of sailing. We will learn about our South Pacific community, with all its natural and cultural wonders. We will discover more of ourselves, who we are and who we can be. And we will connect, with our family, with nature and with the wonderful people we meet along the way. It is a huge adventure for us, but the rewards will be great. We hope you will read on and join us on our journey.
If I don't get on that boat I know exactly what I'm going home to; if I do, my future is unwritten.
Our home for this adventure will be QuickStar, a 1997 Beneteau Oceanis 461 and 46 feet long (14 meters). She became part of our lives as we searched for a way to spend more family time together. Originally, we were looking at an old cruiser style boat or converted fishing trawler, just something to motor around in Middle Harbour with friends. Then came the scope creep. How about a sailing boat instead? How about a slightly bigger sailing boat that we could stay on comfortably? How about a sailing boat that we could live on a sail around the Pacific in? So that's how we ended up with QuickStar
